Work Smarter, Not Harder

Add Automation to Revit

Revit projects and models can get out of hand quickly without effective management of worksets and families. Guardian lets you build worksets and merge duplicate families — providing automatic control with just a few clicks.

Overcome Revit Shortcomings

Revit worksets are part of its charm — and its greatest enemy. Guardian’s automations ensure that the correct worksets are being used, elements are where they should be, and everything is named correctly.

Give End-Users Options

By setting up worksets ahead of time, end-users can select the ones they need — and you’ll be confident that elements from those worksets will automatically be placed.

Eliminate Manual Mayhem

Keeping track of every element in every workset in every model in every project is an impossibility — and manually fixing what you can becomes too time-consuming. Our automations handle all the Revit busy work so that you can instead focus on quality and efficiency.

Set a Source of Truth

Let’s not mince words: Revit stinks at keeping track of things when new worksets, models, families, and elements enter the picture. Guardian’s automations make it easy to establish a single source of truth and keep your timelines on track.
Workset Configurations

Game-Changing Automation

Guardian takes Revit functionality to another level, empowering firms to build their own standard workset lists and ensuring elements from those worksets automatically place or move into the correct spot.

Workset Configurations also let you set up rules to lock out worksets and send a notification with a request from the end-user to override the rule.

Prompt to Choose an Active Workset

Avoid Workset Confusion

Ensuring elements are placed correctly becomes tricky if the incorrect workset is being used. Guardian’s automation prompts end-users to choose an active workset whenever they open shared files or models.

This automation also shows users which active model might already be in use and gives them the option to stick with it or select another.
Viewport Selection

Skip the Manual Updates

Revit’s Viewport Types vex users and admins to no end — standards can quickly spiral out of control unless you’re paying close attention. Guardian’s Viewport Selection automatically makes connections for you, saving time and ensuring consistency.

Besides easing your pain with Views, Viewport Selection can be applied to Schedules, Renderings, Legends, and Walkthroughs.

Auto Merging of Duplicate Families

Deny the Duplicates

Revit loves to create duplicate families while giving you zero means to identify what is and isn't a duplicate. Auto Merging of Duplicate Families is one of our clients’ favorite Guardian features, with good reason — it eliminates all those extra families Revit creates and reduces the file size of projects.

Guardian’s automation also assumes the Revit family that you’re importing or copying-and-pasting is the source of truth and designates it as such.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to commonly asked questions about Guardian's automations.
Can I set up a list of worksets ahead of time?
Yes! With Guardian, you can predefine a list that’s ready to go when you need it. When you enable worksharing, the list’s worksets are automatically written to the file, and Workset1 and Shared levels and grids are renamed.
What kinds of rules can be defined for worksets?
You can create rules based on category, parameter, filename, family, and family type.
Can I select a different Viewport Type for each View?
Yes! With our Viewpoint Select tool, convenient drop-down functionality lets you pick the type you need with ease.
What happens if an end-user attempts to place a prohibited modeled element onto an active workset?
Guardian will open a dialog box notifying the user of the rule and ask if they want to select a different workset on which to instead place the element.
